What is Smart Track?
Smart Track is a web-based vehicle tracking service, which enables
companies to monitor their vehicles' location with up-to-the-minute
precision throughout Singapore. It uses GPS technology, Cell-ID and
an advanced suite of wireless communication technologies that allow
you to track, send and receive messages and generate reports for
further analysis.
What is GPS and Cell-ID?
GPS is a satellite-based system that determines locations of the
phone, including details like direction and speed, through the use
of the 24-satellite Global Positioning System (GPS). Cell-ID is a
mobile location service offered by the operator that allows locating
the mobile phone based on the network. The information is determined
by the position of the operator's base station (or network antenna)
Which tracking method does Smart Track use?
Smart Track utilises either GPS and Cell-ID to get location fix on
the mobile user, and then present the information on Smart Track map
or report. The phone will first attempt to obtain its location fix
using GPS signal. In situation when GPS signal is unavailable (eg
the phone is indoor), Smart Track will get the location fix of the
base station (Cell-ID) where the phone is being connected to.
How do I track my vehicles using Smart Track?
Your vehicles are tracked using a GPS-enabled phone assigned to
your mobile staff. When you log in to the Smart Track website,
you will see a map of your entire fleet of vehicles, where they
are, and the routes taken. You can even zoom into the map for
more specific details.
What makes Smart Track different from other
tracking services?
Smart Track is extremely user-friendly. A simple log in to the
website is all you need to do to track your mobile fleet. All your
mobile fleet needs is a GPS-enabled phone.
Can a company with less than 5 company
vehicles subscribe to Smart Track?
Yes, you can. Smart Track is easily implemented without the need for
a big investment in hardware or software. And as your company grows,
Smart Track can grow to accommodate you with extreme ease.
How long does it need for the whole
setting up process once I subscribe to Smart Track?
Since Smart Track is a subscription-based service, the whole
process is easily deployed. Simply get a GPS-enabled phone, and
our friendly customer service team will deliver the service to
your doorstep, including step-by-step training.
Am I able to track my vehicles islandwide?
Yes, you can. Smart Track lets you locate your vehicles at
anywhere, anytime where Grid network is available.
Am I able to track my vehicles overseas?
Currently, overseas vehicle tracking is still unavailable. However,
Smart Track will continue to improve on its current network, so as to
bring better tracking services to our customers.
How accurate is the location when viewing
on Smart Track?
Accuracy may vary depending on a number of factors, such as tracking
method (GPS or Cell-ID), operator, whereabout of the phone and
terrestrial characteristic. For geographic location derived through
GPS, the accuracy is relatively high, estimated at 0-200 meters.
For Cell-ID, the accuracy ranges to as far as few kilometers, depending
on the density of base stations and their respective cell size. Smart
Track indicates the tracking method on the map and report page. For
Cell-ID location fix, the estimated location with circular boundary
will be indicated on the map.
On which mobile network is the service available?
Smart Track is available on Grid network.
How much does it cost to subscribe to Smart Track?
The cost of Smart Track is extremely affordable, with a minimum
one time and monthly subscription fee. Subscribers need only be
equipped with GPS-enabled phones, available at special rates
through Nexwave.
How do the tracking charges work?
Each phone will be provided with 2500 free location query credits monthly.
Each time you try to locate the phone using the pre-set tracking scheduler or
ad-hoc search for "live" location, a credit will be deducted.
What is needed if I want to subscribe
to Smart Track?
GPS-enabled phones with subscription to Grid data and Smart
Track service, and Internet access are all you need to use our
Smart Track Service.
Does the GPS-enabled phone have to
be switched on during tracking?
Yes, the GPS-enabled phone has to be switched on.
